The Galapagos Islands

The Galapagos Islands are Ecuador's 22nd province. This Archipelago is made up of 13 main islands, 17 islets, and dozens of ancient rock formations. They are located 970 kilometers west off the coast of the Ecuadorian mainland.The total land area is 7,882 square kilometers with a marine reserve of 45,000 square kilometers.
The islands are world-renowned due to their unique flora and fauna, and they have played a substantial part in Charles Darwin's formulation of the theory of evolution.
